Overview

The MS Ophthalmology program at Believers Church Medical College & Hospital (BCMCH), Thiruvalla, is conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). The department provides structured training in comprehensive ophthalmic care, including clinical evaluation, diagnostic procedures, and surgical management of eye disorders.
Residents receive hands-on exposure through outpatient services, inpatient care, operation theatres, and specialty clinics within the attached 700+ bedded multi-specialty teaching hospital. Training includes cataract surgery, glaucoma management, retinal evaluation, pediatric ophthalmology, and ocular emergency care.
The program emphasizes surgical skill development, clinical decision-making, patient safety, and ethical practice. Academic activities such as seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, audits, and research leading to dissertation submission are integral components of the course.
