Overview

• GMERS Medical College & Civil Hospital, Sola is a government medical institution under GMERS, Ahmedabad, that offers MS in Ophthalmology with 3 seats sanctioned for this specialty.

• Over the three‐year MS Ophthalmology programme, students are trained in both surgical and non-surgical eye care. The attached Civil Hospital gives exposure to a wide variety of ocular conditions: cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, corneal diseases, pediatric ophthalmology, and ocular emergencies. The training includes hands-on surgical training (cataract surgery, minor ocular surgeries, etc.), diagnostics (slit lamp, ophthalmoscopy, tonometry, etc.), supervised clinics, emergency ophthalmic procedures, and academic components like seminars, case discussions, research/thesis work, journal clubs. The department operates under the guidelines and curriculum of Gujarat University / NMC ensuring both clinical competence and ethical practice. Graduates are expected to work as competent ophthalmologists in clinical, hospital, or eye care settings.

Eligibility

• MBBS degree (or equivalent) from a recognised medical college. 
• Completion of internship requirements. 
• Qualify NEET-PG with a valid score. 
• Fulfill the reservation / category, domicile, and other state-specific regulations applicable to counselling. (E.g. Gujarat state PG counselling rules)
