Overview
The MS Ophthalmology programme at AIIMS Rajkot is a rigorous three-year full-time postgraduate degree aimed at training competent ophthalmic surgeons. Established recently, the Department of Ophthalmology at AIIMS Rajkot is equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical facilities such as slit lamp, fundus camera, optical coherence tomography (OCT), lasers, non-contact tonometer, etc. Clinical exposure is provided through OPD services, patient evaluations, surgical cases, and hands-on supervision under faculty. Students also have academic sessions such as seminars, clinical demonstrations, and research projects. As AIIMS Rajkot is relatively new, the department is in the process of expanding infrastructure, staff strength, and its capabilities in both routine and advanced ophthalmic procedures. Through this programme, graduates are prepared to work in both hospital and community eye-care settings, offering treatments, diagnostics, surgeries, and contributing to public health eye care.
