• MBBS degree from a recognized medical college/university.

The MS Ophthalmology program at Government Medical College, Ambikapur, provides advanced training in eye care and ocular surgery. Students gain expertise in common procedures like cataract extraction, intraocular lens implantation, squint correction, corneal transplants, glaucoma management, and vitreo-retinal surgeries. The department is equipped with modern diagnostic facilities including slit-lamp biomicroscopy, fundus imaging, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and perimetry. Academic training includes seminars, journal clubs, clinical case presentations, and dissertation research to enhance clinical and research skills. Students are also trained in community ophthalmology through eye camps and outreach services. Graduates of this program are prepared for careers as ophthalmic surgeons, academic faculty, researchers, or super-specialization in retina, cornea, pediatric ophthalmology, or oculoplasty.
