MS Ophthalmology

Overview

The MS Ophthalmology program at NSMCH, Patna, trains medical graduates to become specialists in eye care and vision science. The curriculum includes clinical exposure to outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology cases, comprehensive training in diagnostic procedures such as slit-lamp examination, tonometry, ophthalmoscopy, and imaging techniques. Students gain surgical skills in procedures such as cataract extraction, LASIK, glaucoma surgery, retinal detachment repair, and corneal transplantation. The hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical facilities, ensuring adequate hands-on training. Academic activities like seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, and research work enhance learning. Graduates are well-prepared for careers as ophthalmic surgeons, consultants, academicians, or further super-specialization in vitreoretinal surgery, cornea, or pediatric ophthalmology.

Eligibility

• MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
• Completion of 1-year internship.
• Permanent/provisional registration with NMC/State Medical Council.
• Qualified NEET-PG.
