MS Obstetric and Gynecology

1. MBBS degree recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
2. Completed a one‑year compulsory rotating internship prior to commencement.
3. Valid NEET‑PG score meeting the counselling cutoff for the year.
4. Registration (permanent or provisional) with the National Medical Commission orthe respective State Medical Council before admission.

The MS – Obstetrics & Gynaecology program at ICARE Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Haldia, is a three‑year postgraduate surgical and clinical degree designed to train doctors in comprehensive women’s healthcare. The curriculum includes advanced theoretical knowledge and hands‑on clinical exposure in prenatal care, labour and delivery management, family planning, reproductive endocrinology, and gynaecological surgery. Students gain experience managing normal and high‑risk pregnancies, performing operative procedures such as cesarean sections and laparoscopic gynecological surgeries, and diagnosing and treating disorders of the female reproductive system. Training emphasizes evidence‑based clinical decision‑making, patient counselling, ethical practice, and interdisciplinary team collaboration. Through rotations in outpatient clinics, maternity wards, labour rooms, and gynaecology theatres at the attached Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy Hospital, residents acquire comprehensive practical skills under experienced faculty supervision. The program also encourages participation in clinical audits, research, and academic discussions. Graduates are prepared for careers as consultants in hospitals and women’s health centres, for academic roles, or for further super‑specialization.
