Overview

    1. The Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) is a government-run medical college in Yadapura, Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka, established in 2016.
    2. The campus spans ~42 acres, with a teaching hospital attached — providing a broad range of clinical and surgical services, including obstetrics and gynecology among many specialties.
    3. The MS – Obstetrics & Gynaecology program at CIMS is one of the PG specialties offered, with an intake capacity of 6 seats.
    4. As a full-time postgraduate degree under RGUHS and recognized by NMC, the course aims to train qualified specialists in women’s health — covering antenatal care, obstetric surgeries (including cesarean, emergency obstetric care), gynecological surgery, maternal & fetal medicine, and general gynecological outpatient care.
    5. Given the attached tertiary-care hospital’s bed capacity and service spectrum (including emergency, is-care, diagnostics, surgical theatres), students likely get substantial clinical exposure to diverse cases — from routine deliveries to complicated gynecological & obstetric cases.
    6. The program fits within the broader mission of CIMS to deliver quality medical education and improve healthcare accessibility for the district and surrounding underserved areas.
