Overview
- AIMS Bellur is a well-established private medical college under the aegis of the Adichunchanagiri trust, with a large multi-specialty teaching hospital and modern infrastructure.
- The MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology program at AIMS is designed to provide comprehensive training in both obstetric and gynecological disciplines. Students get exposure to antenatal care, high-risk pregnancies, labor and delivery management, neonatal care, as well as gynecological conditions, surgical interventions, family-welfare services, infertility work-up, contraception, and preventive women’s health. The course is structured to include both theoretical teaching and practical postings in wards, labor rooms, operation theatres, antenatal clinics, gynecology OPDs, and family welfare units. AIMS’s teaching hospital—with wide clinical load and various specialties—ensures a diverse patient inflow, which is beneficial for adequate hands-on surgical and clinical experience for PG trainees.
- Additionally, the department aims to equip graduates with skills in modern obstetric and gynecological practices, emergency obstetric care, maternal and child health, early diagnosis and management of gynecological disorders, and holistic women’s health care — aligning with contemporary needs of maternal and public health in India. The academic curriculum includes clinical rotation, surgical exposure, obstetric emergencies, antenatal & postnatal care, gynecological surgeries, family welfare and reproductive health, prenatal diagnostics, and relevant medico-legal and ethical training.
- Hostel accommodation and campus amenities provide a supportive environment for postgraduates, especially those coming from outside Karnataka or other states — enabling full-time focus on training and studies.
- Overall, MS OBG at AIMS Bellur aims to produce competent obstetricians & gynecologists capable of handling maternal and women’s health, surgical and non-surgical gynecological cases, reproductive health, and contributing to public health, family welfare, and women-centric health services.
