Overview

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at AIIMS Rajkot was established in December 2021, aiming to provide comprehensive women’s health services. The department offers outpatient (OPD) services, antenatal and gynaecological care, preventive oncology, and cancer screening, with expansion plans for more advanced surgical and inpatient care, labour & delivery services, ultrasound diagnostics, and specialized clinics (e.g. reproductive medicine, adolescent gynecology, etc.). The MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology course is designed for 3 years and includes rigorous training in both medical and surgical aspects of obstetrics and gynecology: managing pregnancies, deliveries, antenatal & postnatal complications, gynaecological disorders, surgical interventions, diagnostics, etc. As it is a relatively new department, infrastructure is still being expanded (inpatient, full surgical theatre, labour & delivery complex) but students have exposure through OPDs, cancer screening, antenatal clinics, and telemedicine services. Graduates from this programme will be qualified to work as obstetricians/gynaecologists in hospitals, clinics, or public health settings, contribute to maternal and women’s health research, and possibly further specialize.
