Overview
The MS – General Surgery programme at Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital delivers advanced surgical education through rigorous clinical training and operative exposure. Conducted over three years, the course equips candidates with sophisticated skills in surgical diagnosis, pre-operative preparation, operative techniques, and post-operative care. Students rotate through core surgical disciplines including trauma, emergency surgery, gastrointestinal, urology, and critical care units in the associated multi-speciality teaching hospital. The hospital’s substantial patient inflow enhances hands-on experience, while mentorship from experienced surgical faculty fosters professional development. The curriculum balances theory, practical work, seminars, and research, preparing graduates for both independent surgical practice and further specialization. With a focus on evidence-based practice and clinical judgement, the programme aims to produce competent surgeons capable of addressing diverse surgical health challenges.
