Overview

MS – General Surgery is one of the core clinical postgraduate surgical programmes in medicine. It is designed to give graduates comprehensive surgical training, integrating classroom instruction with hands-on clinical exposure and operative experience. The curriculum covers essential areas such as gastrointestinal surgery, trauma and emergency surgery, endocrine surgery, oncology, and critical care. Trainees learn advanced surgical techniques, patient management before and after surgery, research methodology, and multidisciplinary case coordination. Throughout the three years, candidates rotate across specialized surgical units, participate in teaching rounds, and develop decision-making skills under expert supervision. On completion, graduates are qualified to work as independent surgeons in hospitals, academic institutions, and private practice or pursue further specialized fellowships.
