Overview

  1. The MS General Surgery program at Believers Church Medical College & Hospital (BCMCH), Thiruvalla, is conducted in accordance with the regulations of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). The department provides comprehensive training in elective and emergency surgical care through a structured residency program.
  2. Residents receive extensive hands-on exposure in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, emergency services, and operation theatres within the attached 700+ bedded multi-specialty teaching hospital. Training includes open and basic laparoscopic procedures, trauma surgery, gastrointestinal surgeries, hepatobiliary cases, breast and thyroid surgeries, and perioperative patient management.
  3. The academic program emphasizes surgical principles, decision-making, patient safety, and ethical practice. Regular seminars, journal clubs, morbidity and mortality meetings, audits, and interdisciplinary discussions are integral components. Postgraduate residents must complete a research dissertation as per KUHS requirements. Graduates are well prepared for independent surgical practice, academic careers, or further super-specialty training.

Eligibility

  1. MBBS degree from an NMC-recognized institution
  2. Completion of Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI)
  3. Qualified NEET-PG examination
  4. Permanent medical registration at the time of admission
  5. Eligibility as per KUHS and Government of Kerala PG Medical Admission Rules

  1. Appear for and qualify NEET-PG
  2. Register for PG Medical Counselling through
  3. Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala and/or MCC
  4. Choose MS General Surgery – BCMCH, Thiruvalla during choice filling
  5. Seat allotment through centralized counselling
  6. Report to BCMCH for document verification
  7. Pay prescribed tuition and other fees
  8. Complete admission formalities and join the course as per KUHS schedule
