MS General Surgery

The Department of General Surgery at Father Muller Medical College is one of the most comprehensive and high-volume surgical units in the institution. It offers extensive training in elective and emergency surgeries supported by modern operation theatres, laparoscopic facilities, and critical care units. Postgraduates gain hands-on experience in gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, breast, endocrine, colorectal, trauma, and minimally invasive surgeries. The NABH-accredited teaching hospital ensures continuous exposure to diverse surgical cases, enabling strong operative competence. Academic activities include daily ward rounds, case discussions, seminars, journal clubs, morbidity and mortality meetings, and interdisciplinary conferences. The department places strong emphasis on ethical surgical practice, patient safety, research, and evidence-based medicine. Graduates are well-prepared for super-specialty training or independent surgical practice.

1. Must possess an MBBS degree from an NMC-recognized institution.
2. Must have completed the 12-month compulsory internship by the stipulated cutoff date.
3. Must hold permanent/provisional registration with NMC or State Medical Council.
4. Must qualify NEET-PG.
5. Admission through KEA PG Medical Counselling (Karnataka Examination Authority) only.
