MS General Surgery

1. MBBS degree from an institution recognized by the NMC.
2. Completed one-year compulsory rotating internship.
3. Permanent/provisional registration with State Medical Council/NMC.
4. Qualified NEET-PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate) with a valid percentile for counselling.
5. Eligibility certificate from RGUHS before admission.

The M.S. (General Surgery) program at Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Mangalore, is a three-year postgraduate surgical training that prepares physicians to become competent surgeons capable of managing a broad spectrum of surgical conditions. Under the guidance of experienced faculty and through hands-on clinical exposure in the teaching hospital, trainees handle emergency cases, elective procedures, trauma management, and perioperative patient care. The curriculum includes didactic teaching, ward rounds, operative training, and participation in academic discussions and clinical research. Students refine their diagnostic and surgical skills, develop patient management strategies, and gain confidence in operative decision-making, aligning with RGUHS academic standards and NMC postgraduate training requirements.

1. Qualify NEET-PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate).
2. Register for counselling through the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) or MCC All-India Quota process.
3. Fill/lock choices selecting M.S. General Surgery at Kanachur IMS during counselling.
4. Seat allotment is conducted based on NEET-PG rank, quota, and seat availability.
5. Report to the institute with the allotment letter and original supporting documents (MBBS degree, internship certificate, registration).
6. Complete admission formalities, including fee payment and university registration with RGUHS.
