1. Completed MBBS from an NMC‑recognised medical college.
2. Completed or expected to complete the compulsory rotating internship as per NMC standards.
3. Qualified NEET‑PG with required category‑wise percentile (e.g., ~50th percentile for General category with applicable relaxation for reserved categories).
4. Valid medical registration certificate (provisional or permanent).

The MD – Psychiatry programme at Trichy SRM Medical College is a structured three‑year postgraduate degree designed to train physicians in the scientific and clinical aspects of mental health care, behavioural disorders, and psychiatric practice. The curriculum includes theory and clinical training in mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorders, child and adolescent psychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry, along with psychopharmacology and various therapeutic modalities. Residents gain hands‑on exposure through outpatient and inpatient psychiatry services, emergency psychiatric care, community mental health initiatives, and multidisciplinary team learning. The Department of Psychiatry at TSRMMCHRC has facilities for modern psychiatric assessment, counselling, psychotherapy, de‑addiction services, and public awareness programmes, fostering clinical skills and research engagement among postgraduate trainees.
