MD Psychiatry

The MD Psychiatry programme at Madha Medical College & Research Institute is structured to provide comprehensive training in the assessment and management of mental health disorders across all age groups. The department offers exposure to outpatient and inpatient psychiatric services, emergency psychiatry, and consultation-liaison psychiatry. Residents receive training in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, behavioural sciences, and community mental health. Academic activities include seminars, journal clubs, case presentations, and interdisciplinary discussions to strengthen theoretical knowledge and clinical skills. The programme follows the competency-based postgraduate curriculum prescribed by the National Medical Commission. Emphasis is placed on ethical practice, communication skills, and holistic patient care. Residents are also involved in research work and dissertation submission as part of their academic requirements.

1. Must hold a recognised MBBS degree
2. Must have completed one-year compulsory internship on or before the cut-off date specified by counselling authority
3. Must possess permanent or provisional registration with NMC / State Medical Council
4. Must have qualified NEET-PG in the relevant admission year
5. Must satisfy eligibility conditions laid down by DGHS / State PG Medical Counselling Authority
