1. MBBS qualification recognized by the National Medical Commission

The MD – Psychiatry programme at Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital offers structured and comprehensive training in mental health care. Over the three-year duration, residents gain clinical exposure to a wide range of psychiatric conditions including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and child and adolescent psychiatry. Training includes outpatient and inpatient care, emergency psychiatry, psychotherapy techniques, and psychopharmacological management under experienced faculty supervision. The teaching hospital provides multidisciplinary exposure through collaboration with other clinical departments. Academic activities such as seminars, journal clubs, case presentations, and dissertation research are integral to the programme. 1. Appear for and qualify NEET-PG conducted by the National Board of Examinations
2. Register for postgraduate medical counselling through the designated authority (CENTAC Puducherry / relevant counselling body)
3. Participate in choice filling and locking for MD – Psychiatry
4. Seat allotment based on NEET-PG rank, category, and seat availability
5. Attend document verification with original certificates
6. Pay the prescribed fees to confirm admission
7. Report to the college and complete joining formalities
