1. MBBS qualification recognized by the National Medical Commission
2. Completion of compulsory rotating internship on or before the prescribed cutoff date
3. Valid NEET-PG qualification for the respective admission year
4. Permanent or provisional medical registration certificate
5. Fulfilment of counselling authority and institutional admission requirements

The MD – Psychiatry programme at Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital offers structured and comprehensive training in mental health care. Over the three-year duration, residents gain clinical exposure to a wide range of psychiatric conditions including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and child and adolescent psychiatry. Training includes outpatient and inpatient care, emergency psychiatry, psychotherapy techniques, and psychopharmacological management under experienced faculty supervision. The teaching hospital provides multidisciplinary exposure through collaboration with other clinical departments.
