MD Psychiatry

1. MBBS degree recognized by the National Medical Commission.
2. Permanent or Provisional Medical Registration (State/National).
3. Valid NEET-PG qualification and All-India merit listing.
4. Participation in DGHS-MCC centralized counseling and seat allotment.
5. Meet any additional criteria set by Symbiosis International University and the NMC.

The MD – Psychiatry programme at Symbiosis Medical College for Women, Pune is part of the institution’s newly launched postgraduate medical offerings, commencing from the 2025 academic year. It is designed to train doctors to become specialists in mental health medicine, addressing a wide range of psychiatric disorders through evidence-based clinical care, therapeutic management, and advocacy for mental health awareness. The curriculum combines advanced theory with extensive clinical exposure at the Symbiosis University Hospital & Research Centre (SUHRC). Emphasis is placed on patient assessment, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, community psychiatry, and interdisciplinary collaboration with allied mental health professionals. The department’s vision includes reducing stigma, promoting mental well-being in the community, and fostering research in psychiatric sciences.

1. Qualify NEET-PG with a valid score and obtain an All-India Rank.
2. Register for DGHS/MCC counselling as per NEET-PG instructions.
3. Participate in seat allotment rounds based on rank and availability.
4. If allotted a seat at SMCW Pune, report to the institution within the stipulated dates.
5. Complete document verification and fee payment with the college.
6. Undergo medical fitness checks and enrollment formalities.
7. Start academic training as per the programme schedule.
