Overview

GMERS Medical College & Civil Hospital (GMERSMCH), Sola is a government medical college in Ahmedabad under the GMERS society. It has been offering MD in Psychiatry with a small but sufficient intake (4 seats) providing students with substantial clinical exposure due to the high patient load at the attached Civil Hospital. The department trains students in diagnosing and managing psychiatric disorders, including outpatient and inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, behavioral therapy, rehabilitation, and community psychiatry. In addition to standard pharmacological treatments, training includes psychiatric counselling, psychotherapy, and liaison with other specialties. Research work and thesis is a mandatory component. Over the 3-year programme, students rotate through various sub-areas of psychiatry, attend seminars, case studies, and maintain case logs. The course aims to produce competent and compassionate psychiatrists ready to work in clinical, academic, or public health settings.

Eligibility

• Must have an MBBS degree or its equivalent, recognized by NMC. 
• Must have completed the one-year rotating internship, or will complete it before a due date. 
• Must qualify the NEET-PG exam. 
• Must meet NEET-PG percentile/rank cut-offs for the relevant category (General / Reserved etc.).
