MD Physiology

Overview

The MD – Physiology programme at Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW), Pune is a postgraduate pre-clinical specialty introduced as part of the institution’s approved PG medical programmes from the 2025 academic year onwards. The course aims to develop skilled academicians and researchers with deep knowledge of human physiological functions and regulatory mechanisms. Training covers general and systemic physiology, neurophysiology, cardiovascular and respiratory physiology, renal and gastrointestinal physiology, endocrinology, reproductive physiology, and applied clinical physiology. Postgraduate residents actively engage in undergraduate teaching, practical demonstrations, experimental physiology, seminars, journal clubs, and interdisciplinary research. Emphasis is placed on medical education technology, ethical research practices, and clinical correlation, preparing graduates for careers in medical teaching, research institutions, and allied healthcare sciences.

Eligibility

1. MBBS degree recognised by the National Medical Commission
2. Permanent or provisional registration with State Medical Council / National Medical Council
3. Qualified NEET-PG examination with a valid rank
4. Eligibility as per MCC (DGHS) counselling rules for deemed universities
5. Fulfilment of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) admission norms
6. Medical fitness as prescribed by the institute
