The MD – Paediatrics programme at Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW), Pune is part of the newly introduced postgraduate courses commencing from the academic year 2025-26 after approval by the National Medical Commission. This course aims to develop well-trained child health specialists capable of managing a wide spectrum of paediatric conditions — from neonatal and infant care to adolescent health issues. Training includes extensive clinical exposure in paediatric wards, neonatal care units, and outpatient settings at the Symbiosis University Hospital & Research Centre (SUHRC), a 900-bed tertiary care teaching hospital. The curriculum includes child growth and development, immunisation practices, nutrition, preventive health, emergency care, and management of acute and chronic illnesses. It also emphasises research, community paediatrics, and evidence-based practice, preparing graduates for leadership roles in clinical practice, academic medicine, and public health.
