MD Pediatrics

Overview

1. The MD Paediatrics program at Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College & Hospital is a comprehensive postgraduate training course aimed at developing competent pediatricians capable of delivering high-quality child healthcare. The department provides clinical services covering neonatal care, pediatric outpatient and inpatient management, immunization, and emergency pediatric services.
2. Affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and recognized by the National Medical Commission, the program follows a structured curriculum integrating academic teaching with extensive clinical exposure. Residents gain hands-on experience in neonatal intensive care, pediatric emergencies, infectious diseases, nutritional disorders, and growth and developmental assessment.
3. Academic training includes seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, clinical audits, and mandatory dissertation work. The attached teaching hospital ensures adequate patient load and exposure to a wide range of pediatric conditions. On completion, graduates are well prepared for independent pediatric practice, academic roles, or further super-specialty training.

Eligibility

1. MBBS degree recognized by NMC
2. Permanent or provisional MBBS registration with State Medical Council / NMC
3. Completion of CRRI on or before the prescribed cutoff date
4. Valid NEET-PG qualification with required percentile
5. Eligibility as per KUHS, NMC, and counselling authority norms
