MD Pathology

ESI‑PGIMSR & ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Joka, Kolkata, is a government medical institution established in 2013 under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India). The institute is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and recognized by the National Medical Commission. The MD‑Pathology program is a 3‑year postgraduate clinical discipline that prepares medical graduates to become experts in diagnostic pathology. Trainees learn to perform and interpret laboratory tests, histopathological examinations, cytology, and hematological analyses, contributing to accurate disease diagnosis and patient care decisions. The course combines practical laboratory rotations, theoretical lectures, seminars, case discussions, and research activities under experienced faculty. Students also gain exposure to broader clinical correlations by collaborating with other clinical departments of the ESIC Hospital. The pathology department plays a central role in supporting clinical decision‑making across all medical disciplines through diagnostic services and academic contributions.

1. Passed MBBS from a recognized medical college.
2. Completion of mandatory internship (or expected completion by deadline).
3. Valid NEET‑PG score with required percentile (general ~50th percentile; reduced for reserved categories).
4. Registration with a State Medical Council or National Medical Commission.
5. Eligible and participating in NEET‑PG counselling (MCC/State/ESIC as applicable).
