MD Pathology

Overview

1. The MD Pathology program at Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College & Hospital is a comprehensive postgraduate course designed to train competent pathologists with strong diagnostic and analytical skills. The department provides extensive laboratory services including histopathology, cytopathology, hematology, clinical pathology, and basic transfusion medicine.
2. Affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) and approved by the National Medical Commission, the program follows a structured curriculum integrating academic instruction with hands-on laboratory training. Residents gain experience in specimen processing, slide interpretation, reporting, quality control, and laboratory management.
3. Academic activities include seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, clinicopathological conferences, audits, and mandatory dissertation work. The attached teaching hospital ensures adequate sample load and exposure to diverse disease patterns. On completion, graduates are well prepared for diagnostic laboratory practice, academic careers, or further super-specialty training.

Eligibility

1. MBBS degree recognized by NMC
2. Permanent or provisional MBBS registration with State Medical Council / NMC
3. Completion of CRRI before the prescribed cutoff date
4. Valid NEET-PG qualification with required percentile
5. Eligibility as per KUHS, NMC, and counselling authority norms
