MD Pathology

1. Must hold an MBBS degree from an NMC-recognised medical college/university.
2. Must have completed the compulsory rotating internship by the deadline specified (usually on or before 31st March of the admission year).
3. Must qualify in the national postgraduate medical entrance examination — typically NEET PG (or other authorised PG exam as per NMC / RGUHS norms).
4. Seat allotment via online counselling conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), including General / Management / NRI quotas as applicable.

The M.D. Pathology program at AIMSRC is a rigorous three-year postgraduate course under RGUHS, designed to train students in the scientific and diagnostic aspects of medicine. The Department of Pathology at AIMSRC provides a modern lab infrastructure including histopathology, cytology, hematology, autopsy services, immunohistochemistry, and a well-maintained specimen museum — facilitating hands-on learning and diagnostic training. The program includes a balanced mixture of theoretical learning (lectures, seminars, journal clubs, case discussions) and practical training — handling real patient specimens, performing biopsies, lab testing, blood bank services, bone-marrow aspirates, autopsies, and reporting. Through exposure to varied diagnostic cases, specimen processing, and lab management, students develop competence to contribute significantly to clinical decision-making and pathology-based diagnosis in hospitals or diagnostic centers. AIMSRC’s attached multi-specialty teaching hospital ensures a sufficient volume and variety of cases — giving residents exposure to routine and complex pathology work. The course also encourages academic research and publications, thereby preparing graduates for careers in diagnostics, academic pathology, hospital labs, research, or further specialization (fellowships).
