MD Pathology

• Must have an MBBS degree/internship from a recognised medical college.
• Must have completed internship (if required). (Implicit in MBBS validity).
• Must qualify in the INI-CET exam for postgraduate medical courses.
• Must meet minimum marks/grades as per category (General, OBC, SC, ST) in MBBS. (Often 55% for unreserved, but a specific percentage at AIIMS Bilaspur is not clearly published in what I saw for Pathology)
• Must fulfil any regulatory requirements (medical registration, etc.).

MD Pathology at AIIMS Bilaspur is a three-year postgraduate program offering in-depth training in pathology. The program focuses on both diagnostic and research aspects, covering surgical pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, and laboratory techniques. Students learn to evaluate tissue samples microscopically, perform autopsies, interpret biopsies, and use molecular diagnostic tools. They are expected to correlate clinical features with lab findings to assist clinicians in diagnosis and prognosis. Being an AIIMS institution, Bilaspur provides modern labs and facilities, access to hospital cases, and exposure to a variety of disease specimens for learning. Selection is competitive, through INI-CET; only a small number of seats are available (1 seat in some reports) which indicates high competition for entry.

1. Complete MBBS and ensured all required documentation, including internship completion and medical registration.
2. Monitor announcement of INI-CET for the relevant year/session (by AIIMS / INI authorities).
3. Register and appear for the INI-CET exam.
4. Secure the required rank in INI-CET such that it meets or exceeds the cutoff for MD Pathology at AIIMS Bilaspur. (Cutoff in 2025 was around 2188 – 3805 for some rounds for Pathology for the General category.)
5. Participate in counselling / seat allotment organised by INI-CET managing authorities. Seats are allocated based on category-wise reservation and rank.
6. Complete document verification, pay admission fees, and join the course as per the schedule.
