Must have an MBBS degree from a recognised medical college.

Must qualify NEET PG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate Courses) in the admission year.

Must complete the internship and obtain permanent/ provisional medical registration as per NMC requirements.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Mohali is a government medical college established in 2021 in SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab. It is affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences and recognised by the National Medical Commission. The MD – Microbiology program is a three-year specialist degree that immerses doctors in advanced medical microbiology, emphasising clinical laboratory diagnostics, infectious disease surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, and research methodologies. Postgraduate trainees work closely with faculty in state-of-the-art microbiology and pathology labs, participating in routine clinical work and specialised investigations, including culture, sensitivity testing, molecular diagnostics, and serological techniques. The curriculum also covers epidemiology, infection control practices, and public health aspects relevant to both hospital and community settings. Graduates are equipped to serve in diagnostic laboratories, hospital infection control teams, teaching hospitals, and research institutions. The program strengthens analytical skills, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practice, preparing specialists to handle complex infectious disease challenges.

1. Appear in NEET PG conducted by the National Board of Examinations.
2. Obtain NEET PG rank and score.
3. Participate in counselling — All India Quota (AIQ) through MCC and State Quota through BFUHS/state authority.
4. Choice filling and seat allocation based on rank, category, and preferences.
5. Document verification and fee payment at the counselling authority.
6. Reporting to the institute and completing admission formalities before the academic session starts.
