Overview

    1. CIMS was established in 2016 and is a government medical college located in Yadapura village, Chamarajanagar District, Karnataka. The campus spans approximately 42 acres and includes a teaching hospital that offers tertiary-care services, serving a broad population in the region.
    2. The MD – Microbiology program at CIMS is designed to train postgraduate specialists in the field of microbiological diagnostics, immunology, bacteriology, virology, and related laboratory medicine. With a sanctioned intake of 4 seats annually, the course offers structured academic and practical training over 3 years under the aegis of RGUHS and per NMC guidelines.
    3. Given that CIMS has an attached hospital with various departments and inpatient/outpatient labs, students in this program are likely to get exposure to real clinical-microbiological cases — including infectious diseases, sample processing, diagnostics, and lab management. This affords a comprehensive learning environment combining theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, preparing graduates for roles in hospital labs, diagnostics centers, research, or further specialization.
