MD Microbiology

• Must have an MBBS degree (or equivalent) from a recognised medical college.

AIIMS Bilaspur offers MD Microbiology as part of its postgraduate medical education portfolio. The course spans three years, aiming to build specialised clinical and diagnostic microbiology expertise. Students undergo training in pathogen detection, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, molecular diagnostics, infection control, laboratory biosafety, epidemiology of infectious diseases and handling diagnostic labs. Given the institutional setting, students have access to hospital laboratories and cases, enabling exposure to real-world clinical microbiology. Admission is competitive via INI-CET, and the number of seats is limited, making rank/preparation important. Graduates typically work in diagnostic labs, public health surveillance, teaching, research, or hospital infection control.

1. Complete MBBS degree and internship, and ensure all certificates / medical registration are in order.
2. Monitor the INI-CET exam notification for the relevant session.
3. Obtain a rank/score that meets or exceeds the cutoff for MD Microbiology at AIIMS Bilaspur.
4. Participate in counselling / seat allocation through the INI-CET / AIIMS PG process. Choose Microbiology as your preference.
5. If allocated, do document verification, fee payment, fulfill formalities.
6. Join the course as per the schedule and begin clinical, laboratory, and academic training for the next three years.
