Overview
Parul Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PIMSR), established in 2016, is part of Parul University and is recognized by the National Medical Commission. The MD Microbiology program is one of the postgraduate (MD) specialisations offered. It aims to train medical graduates in advanced laboratory diagnostic skills, epidemiology of infectious diseases, molecular microbiology, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection control. Students are exposed to both routine and specialized microbiology labs, opportunities for case-based learning, seminars, and research in areas such as pathogen identification, culture techniques, sensitivity testing, and public health surveillance. The program helps develop capacity to work in clinical diagnostic labs, diagnostic centres, academic settings, and public health. PIMSR has laboratory infrastructure and faculty to support this speciality, and seats for MD Microbiology are limited, ensuring focused training.
