MD Microbiology

Overview

The MD Microbiology program at NSMCH, Patna, is designed to develop expertise in medical microbiology, with a focus on laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases, epidemiology, immunology, and infection control. The department is equipped with modern laboratories featuring facilities for bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, immunology, and molecular diagnostic techniques. Students are trained in both conventional and advanced diagnostic methods, antimicrobial resistance testing, and biosafety protocols. NSMCH also emphasizes research and clinical applications, enabling graduates to contribute to healthcare through teaching, diagnostic services, infection control programs, and public health laboratories. This course prepares students for careers in academia, clinical microbiology, biomedical research, and public health.

Eligibility

• MBBS degree from a recognized medical college/university.
• Completion of 1-year compulsory internship.
• Permanent/provisional registration with NMC/State Medical Council.
• Must have qualified NEET-PG.
