MD Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion (IHBT)

Overview

The MD in Immunohematology & Blood Transfusion (Transfusion Medicine) at AIIMS Mangalagiri trains doctors in the science of blood banking, transfusion practices, and immunohematology. The course provides expertise in donor selection, blood component preparation, cross-matching, transfusion-transmitted infections, and advanced transfusion practices. Residents also gain experience in therapeutic procedures like plasmapheresis, stem cell harvesting, and cellular therapies. AIIMS Mangalagiri, with its state-of-the-art blood bank and laboratory facilities, provides ample hands-on exposure in clinical transfusion services, research, and patient blood management. Graduates are well-equipped to work as transfusion medicine specialists, blood bank directors, researchers, and faculty members in medical colleges.

Eligibility

MBBS degree recognized by NMC/MCI.

Completion of one-year compulsory rotatory internship.

Must qualify NEET-PG examination with required cutoff.

Admission through MCC All India Quota counseling with AIIMS Mangalagiri as choice.
