MD General Medicine

1. MBBS degree from an NMC-recognised institution.
2. Completed the compulsory one-year internship by March 31 of the admission year.
3. Qualified NEET-PG exam with a valid score.
4. Seat allotment through state (UPDGME) / All India (MCC) counseling.

The MD – General Medicine program at NIIMS is a rigorous three-year postgraduate course that prepares doctors for advanced clinical practice in internal medicine. The curriculum combines theoretical instruction, practical clinical exposure, and research components to develop strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills. It covers topics such as cardiology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, endocrinology, nephrology, infectious diseases, and emergency care. Students also gain experience in interpreting diagnostic investigations and managing medical emergencies. The program emphasizes scientific inquiry, evidence-based decision-making, and holistic patient care. Graduates are prepared to work as general medicine consultants, hospitalists, or pursue further super-specialization.

1. Qualify NEET-PG: Appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate and obtain a qualifying score.
2. Register for Counseling: Complete registration for UPDGME (State) and/or MCC (All India Quota) counseling.
3. Choice Filling: Select the MD – General Medicine program at NIIMS among preferred choices.
4. Seat Allotment: Seats are allocated based on NEET-PG rank, category, and counseling round.
5. Document Verification: Complete verification of academic and eligibility documents at the designated counseling nodal center.
6. Fee Payment & Reporting: Pay the applicable tuition and hostel fees and report to NIIMS within the stipulated timeframe.
7. Commence Training: Begin academic and clinical duties as per institute’s schedule.
