The MD – General Medicine programme at Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW), Pune is one of the postgraduate clinical courses introduced with effect from the academic year 2025-26 after approval by the National Medical Commission. The programme aims to train competent internal medicine specialists capable of handling a wide spectrum of adult diseases through comprehensive clinical training, evidence-based practice, and holistic patient care. Training includes in-depth exposure to clinical diagnosis, management of acute and chronic conditions, patient communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration across specialties at the Symbiosis University Hospital & Research Centre (SUHRC), a 900-bed tertiary care teaching hospital attached to the college. The curriculum includes ward postings, case discussions, academic seminars, and rotations in critical care, emergency medicine, and community health, preparing graduates for independent clinical practice, hospital service, or further academic roles.
