Overview

The MD Forensic Medicine program at Zydus Medical College & Hospital, Dahod, is a three-year postgraduate specialisation designed to train doctors in medico-legal and forensic disciplines. With 3 seats sanctioned in this speciality, the course follows NMC norms in curriculum, combining theoretical instruction in medical jurisprudence, toxicology, pathology of injuries, autopsy techniques, and medico-legal documentation with hands-on practical training.

Students receive training in the department’s laboratory, demonstration room, mortuary, and cold storage, assisting with autopsies, medico-legal investigations, and toxicology cases. The department is also involved in assisting courts and investigating authorities.

Since the college is affiliated with Shri Govind Guru University and operates under a Public-Private Partnership model and with NMC approval, the course ensures infrastructure and faculty meet standard requirements. The department also fosters research in topics related to forensic medicine. The broader mission includes developing physicians who are competent to deliver medico-legal services ethically and responsibly.
