Overview
- MD Emergency Medicine is a rigorous three-year postgraduate medical degree designed to train physicians to become specialists in emergency care and acute medicine. During the residency, trainees rotate through various clinical areas such as adult and pediatric emergency departments, trauma care, intensive care units, surgery, orthopaedics, anaesthesiology, and critical care settings. The curriculum combines theoretical learning, hands-on clinical exposure, procedural skills, simulation training, and research under supervision. Residents learn to assess and stabilise patients with severe and life-threatening conditions, prioritise care, and make swift clinical decisions across a wide range of medical and surgical emergencies.
- The programme emphasises a broad base of clinical knowledge and technical expertise, preparing graduates for roles as emergency physicians, critical care consultants, academic clinicians, and leaders in pre-hospital care systems. Research and academic activities, including case presentations and thesis submission, are integral parts of training.
- Upon completion, graduates are eligible for specialist roles in emergency departments across hospitals, undertake further fellowships, or pursue academic careers.
