MD Emergency Medicine

1. MBBS degree recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
2. Completion of one-year compulsory internship before admission.
3. Permanent or provisional registration with any State Medical Council/NMC.
4. Qualified NEET-PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate) with valid percentile and rank for counselling.
5. Eligibility certificate from RGUHS before entry.

The M.D. (Emergency Medicine) program at Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Mangalore is a three-year postgraduate clinical training course designed to prepare physicians for high-pressure emergency care and critical medicine. Residents are trained to manage a wide range of urgent health conditions — including trauma, cardiac emergencies, acute infections, poisoning, and acute exacerbations of chronic disease — through rapid assessment, resuscitation, and evidence-based intervention. The curriculum integrates hands-on clinical exposure, rotation through emergency and critical care units of the institute’s multi-speciality teaching hospital, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic activities such as case discussions, seminars, and journal clubs. Graduates of this program are equipped to function effectively in emergency departments, trauma centers, and intensive care settings with a strong foundation in clinical reasoning and procedural skills.
