MD Emergency Medicine

Overview

• The Emergency Medicine department at Medical College, Baroda is a relatively newer speciality, established in 2009 for postgraduate studies — it was among the early departments in India in the emergency medicine speciality approved by the MCI (now NMC) and started training emergency physicians from around 2011. 
• The program is designed to train doctors in handling acute care, trauma, and life-threatening emergencies across all age groups, with diverse cases, a high patient load, and exposure to critical decision-making under pressure. It integrates both theoretical learning and practical/clinical rotations in the emergency department, casualty management, trauma care, resuscitation, disaster medicine, and emergency procedures. The program also includes regular assessments (monthly evaluations, etc.), research activities, and training for efficient triage and immediate interventions. 
• The number of seats for this specialisation is 1 seat at Baroda Medical College.
• Fees for the full 3-year duration are around ₹1,84,000 (includes tuition and one-time fees, etc.) for the government quota.

Eligibility

• Must have an MBBS degree from a recognized medical college/institution. 
• Must have completed the compulsory rotating internship. 
• Must clear NEET-PG with a valid score/rank. 
• Must meet category / reservation / domicile requirements of the state (Gujarat) and Baroda Medical College. (As is typical)
