Overview

The MD – Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy programme at Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW), Pune is one of the postgraduate medical courses introduced with the launch of SMCW’s PG programmes from the 2025 academic year onward. Approval for PG training in clinical disciplines strengthens the college’s academic portfolio and enhances specialty healthcare training. This course develops dermatology specialists capable of managing a broad range of skin conditions — from common dermatoses to infectious and sexually transmitted diseases — with training in diagnostic procedures, therapeutic interventions, and clinical research. The department also undertakes community outreach, awareness camps, and educational activities related to skin health and infection control. Training integrates classroom learning with extensive clinical exposure at the Symbiosis University Hospital & Research Centre, enabling hands-on experience in outpatient care, in-patient management, procedural dermatology, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
