MD Dermatology

Overview

1. MD – Dermatology, Venereology & Leprology is a specialized postgraduate medical programme aimed at developing expert clinicians in the field of skin and sexually transmitted diseases. The curriculum typically includes in-depth training in clinical dermatology, dermatopathology, pediatric dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, dermatosurgery, and management of venereal diseases and leprosy. Residents are trained through outpatient services, inpatient care, diagnostic procedures, minor surgical interventions, academic seminars, and research activities. The programme emphasizes accurate diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and patient counseling.
2. Currently, Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS), Imphal offers only the MBBS undergraduate programme and does not conduct MD/MS postgraduate courses, including MD – Dermatology. Any future introduction of this specialty would require formal approval from the National Medical Commission and official notification by the institute.

Eligibility

1. MBBS degree recognized by the National Medical Commission
2. Completion of compulsory rotatory internship before the start of the course
3. Qualification in NEET-PG in the relevant admission year
4. Fulfilment of medical fitness and age criteria as prescribed by NMC
