Overview

Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital (SIMSRH), located in Tumakuru, Karnataka, is a private medical college established and managed by the Sri Shridevi Charitable Trust to deliver quality medical education and healthcare services in the region. The MD Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy programme is a three-year postgraduate degree that aims to develop competent specialists in skin and sexually transmitted diseases. The course integrates classroom theory, extensive clinical training, laboratory diagnostics, and case-based learning to ensure graduates are proficient in evaluating and managing dermatological conditions ranging from common dermatoses to complex and systemic skin diseases. Students benefit from clinical exposure through the college’s multi-specialty teaching hospital, which includes an outpatient dermatology department, inpatient wards, and minor OT for procedural dermatology interventions. The department is supported by experienced faculty and research opportunities, fostering analytical skills, evidence-based practice, and professional ethics. With a growing demand for dermatologists in India, the programme equips students for careers in clinical practice, hospital settings, and academic or research pathways.
