Overview

A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre (AJIMS), Mangalore, offers MD Dermatology via its well-established Department of Dermatology, treating a broad spectrum of skin, venereal, and leprosy patients. The affiliated hospital has a busy outpatient and inpatient dermatology unit, giving residents ample exposure to common and rare dermatological conditions, pediatric and adult cases, infectious and non-infectious skin diseases, leprosy management, venereology, and procedural dermatology, including minor surgeries and dermatosurgery. The academic program integrates clinical postings, didactic lectures, seminars, journal clubs, case presentations, and research projects. Residents also handle patient follow-ups, manage complicated cases, and participate in community skin health camps — leveraging AJIMS’s outreach and public-health initiatives. This blend of clinical load, academic training, and hospital infrastructure ensures well-rounded training, preparing graduates for independent practice, teaching, or further specialisation. The institute’s commitment to medical education and patient care is reflected in its motto and holistic training environment.
