The M.D. Community Medicine program at Vilasrao Deshmukh Government Medical College, Latur is a structured three‑year postgraduate course designed to train physicians in public health principles, disease prevention, and community health management. The discipline, also known as Preventive & Social Medicine (PSM), includes fieldwork at urban and rural health training centers, programs for immunization, maternal and child health, epidemiologic surveillance, biostatistics, environmental health, and health program planning. The department has functioning urban and rural health training centers, antirabies and immunization clinics, and engages students in community health camps and outreach activities. With an annual intake of 2 seats for the MD program, this specialty prepares graduates for careers in government and non‑government public health, hospital community medicine units, academic teaching, research organizations, and health administration roles.
