The Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), established in 2016 and located in Yadapura (Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka), is a government-run medical college affiliated to RGUHS and approved by NMC.
CIMS offers a 3-year MD in Community Medicine, with a sanctioned intake of 4 seats. The course is designed to train medical graduates in public health, preventive medicine, community health, epidemiology and health administration — equipping them to work in community/public health settings, rural health centers, government health services, or for research in public health.
Given the institute’s attached teaching hospital, plus its mandate to serve rural and district-level health needs, students of Community Medicine at CIMS are likely to gain exposure to community health problems, preventive strategies, epidemiological data collection, public health outreach, disease surveillance, and interaction with rural / tribal / underserved populations. This makes the programme particularly relevant for those interested in public health, rural medicine, preventive care, health administration or working with government health services.

Candidate must appear in NEET-PG and obtain a valid score/rank.
Participate in PG counselling (state quota / all-India quota) via authorities managing medical admissions in Karnataka.
Based on merit, quota, seat availability — seat allotment is done. For MD Community Medicine at CIMS, 4 seats are typically available.
After allotment — complete admission formalities: document verification (MBBS degree & marksheets, internship completion certificate, registration certificate, NEET-PG scorecard, identity proofs, etc.) — as mandated by RGUHS / NMC / counselling authority. (As per standard norms for PG in India; similar to general admission requirements seen in other institutes)
After verification and fee payment, join the course at CIMS and register for MD under RGUHS; begin academic sessions / postings / community medicine rotations as per institute schedule.
