Overview

    MD Community Medicine is a postgraduate medical course that aims to produce specialists capable of addressing public health challenges. Trainees learn epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, social determinants of health, health planning and management, disease surveillance, health promotion, and health policies. They also gain experience in community diagnosis, designing and implementing public health programs, monitoring and evaluation, outbreak investigation, and working with government health agencies and NGOs. The training includes both classroom/theory-based learning and field postings (in primary/secondary health care settings), perhaps involvement in health camps and community health projects. Graduates are expected to serve as public health leaders, policy makers, program managers, health educators, or epidemiologists.

Eligibility

    • Possession of an MBBS degree from an NMC-recognised medical college.
    • Completion of a one-year compulsory rotating internship.
    • Qualify in NEET-PG exam (or equivalent PG medical entrance exam).
    • Meet any category-based minimum marks/percentile criteria set by NMC / state authorities/college (for General, SC/ST/OBC etc.).

Admission Process:

    1. Complete MBBS + internship.
    2. Appear in the NEET-PG exam and obtain the required rank/percentile.
    3. Register for the counselling process (state level / national / institute-based as applicable).
    4. Fill in preferences – selecting MD Community Medicine at the desired college (e.g. AFSMRC, if available).
    5. Seat allotment based on NEET-PG rank, category, preference, and seat availability.
    6. After seat allotment, report to the institute for document verification (MBBS certificate, internship certificate, NEET-PG score, category certificate etc.).
    7. Pay fees and complete admission formalities.
    8. Start the academic term/postings as per the schedule.
