Overview

Parul Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PIMSR) was established in 2016 under Parul University, with its MBBS program approved by the NMC from that time. As part of its expansion, PIMSR has introduced multiple MD programmes, including MD Community Medicine.  The Department of Community Medicine trains students in both theory and field work: epidemiology, biostatistics, preventive health, health promotion, community outreach, primary health care, public health management, etc. The teaching hospital and community outreach centres associated with PIMSR are leveraged for practical exposure, such as peripheral health centres. Graduates are expected to gain skills to design, implement and evaluate community health programs, to engage in disease surveillance, policy, health education, and potentially roles in government health departments, NGO/public health organisations, academia, etc.
