MD Community Medicine

Overview

Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur, is one of the major public medical colleges in Chhattisgarh, with full facilities for medical training, attached hospital, and community health linkages. The MD Community Medicine program there trains doctors in public health principles such as epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental and occupational health, maternal and child health, disease surveillance, health programs (like immunization), and health policy. The department has field practice areas, rural and urban health training centres, where students get hands-on exposure to community settings. During the 3 years, students undertake academic modules, rotations in primary health centres, data collection and analysis, public health research/thesis work, and collaborate with other departments for preventive and promotive health interventions. Graduates are expected to be able to plan and manage public health programs, conduct community surveys, evaluate interventions, and contribute to policy and administrative roles in public health.

Eligibility

• Must have an MBBS degree or provisional MBBS certificate recognised by NMC. 
• Must complete the compulsory rotating internship (one year) by the specified date.
• Must hold (or be eligible for) registration with the National Medical Commission (or relevant State Medical Council). 
• Must clear the NEET PG exam and meet percentile / cutoff norms for the category (General / OBC / SC / ST / etc.) being applied.
