Overview
- MD – Biochemistry is a postgraduate non-clinical medical programme designed to train doctors in the biochemical basis of human physiology and disease. The course emphasizes laboratory diagnostics, enzymology, metabolism, molecular biology, genetics, and clinical biochemistry applications relevant to patient care. Residents are trained in advanced laboratory techniques, quality control, interpretation of biochemical investigations, and integration of biochemical data with clinical findings. The programme also includes teaching responsibilities, research methodology, dissertation work, and academic activities.
- Currently, Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS), Imphal offers only the MBBS undergraduate programme and does not conduct postgraduate MD/MS courses, including MD – Biochemistry. Introduction of this course in the future would require formal approval from the National Medical Commission and official notification by the institute.

Eligibility
- MBBS degree recognised by the National Medical Commission
- Completion of a one-year compulsory rotatory internship
- Qualification in NEET-PG in the relevant admission year
- Fulfilment of age and medical fitness criteria as per NMC guidelines
