The MD – Anaesthesiology program at Sri Muthukumaran Medical College Hospital & Research Institute offers a comprehensive postgraduate training track in anaesthesia and perioperative care, closely aligned with the curriculum prescribed by Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. The department is equipped with modern operating rooms, advanced anaesthesia workstations, monitoring systems, and a dedicated Post‑Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Academic activities include structured teaching sessions, journal clubs, case discussions, thesis work, workshops on Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and airway management, and opportunities for research publication. Under experienced faculty mentorship, students develop strong clinical judgment, technical skills, and competencies essential for safe anaesthesia practice across diverse surgical and emergency scenarios.

- Recognized MBBS degree with completion of compulsory internship.
- Valid medical registration (State Medical Council / NMC).
